10th Annual East Valley Team Tennis Challenge

Girls:  Feb. 23-24, 2018

Boys:  March 2-3, 2018

Tournament Director: Tom Kenney

The East Valley Team Tennis Challenge is the premier pre-season team event for high schools in the East Valley and metro Phoenix. This highly successful tournament was formerly played at the Gene Autry Tennis Center under the direction of Tom Kenney. The tournament took a year’s hiatus, but is back by popular demand for 2018. The event provides “doubles only” competition early in the season and is a great team building tournament. In 2016, there were 17 girls and 20 boy’s teams competing. Because of the event’s popularity and limited courts, boys and girls will be playing on different weekends.

Four doubles teams play each round for each school. Coaches are encouraged to bring extra players because you can change your lineup each round and someone may get sick or injured.

All your varsity and some of your JV players get valuable match play doubles experience.

Teams are divided into pools based on team strength and usually play round robin or compass draw competition within their pool. Teams are guaranteed at least 3 team matches.

This is not a “one and done” event. Pool winners and/or finalists may advance to playoffs.

Matches are pro sets and your lineup must be according to team strength (strongest team at #1 and weakest team at #4). Your team is awarded 2 points for a win at #1 and one point for a win at the other three positions (5 possible points each round).

All teams are encouraged to wear team uniforms/shirts.

To be played at the newly constructed American Leadership Academy-Gilbert (ALA) High School courts, and newly resurfaced courts at Higley High School, which is right down the street from ALA and possibly another site(s).
